FAQ for PSsystec extensions
PSsystec systems grow with your requirements. This FAQ explains how to retrofit measuring points, integrate systems into CAFM, SCADA, or PLC, and scale installations at any time—without having to replace existing hardware.
What expansion options does the PSsystec system offer if more measuring points are required?
The PSsystec system features a modular design, allowing you to increase the number of measuring points per gateway at any time. Depending on the device type, universal I/O extensions—such as the SMARTsens IOextension—are available to provide additional analog and digital sensor inputs. This scalability protects your investment and enables a gradual expansion of data points without the need to replace the central gateway hardware.
Can the PSsystec system be integrated into existing CAFM or SCADA systems?
Yes. PSsystec systems can be integrated into higher-level systems such as building management systems (BMS), SCADA, CAFM, or ERP systems via standardized API interfaces. This allows data from the PSsystec cloud to be incorporated into existing dashboards and processes without the need to maintain parallel systems.
Can PSsystec data be imported into our existing software?
Yes, PSsystec provides standardized API interfaces that allow measurement data to be transferred to third-party systems, such as CAFM, ERP, SCADA, or energy management software. For a specific integration assessment, the target software and its API documentation should be reviewed in advance. PSsystec already offers pre-integrated interfaces for a selection of software platforms.
Can a connection to the PLC be established with PSsystec devices?
Yes – provided the PLC has a Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP interface, the PSsystec gateway can read data directly. Modbus is the most widely used open standard in industrial automation and is supported by most PLC manufacturers. For proprietary PLC protocols, converters can be used to translate to the Modbus protocol.
Is the system scalable after implementation?
Yes – scalability is a fundamental principle of the PSsystec system. New gateways, locations, and measuring points can be added to the existing cloud platform at any time without affecting current installations. Companies can start with a pilot site and gradually expand the system across their entire property portfolio.
